National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation Engineers and Agricultural Mechanization" and International Water Management Institute (IWMI) within the framework of NEXUS GAINS initiative organized the 2nd International Summer School - 2023 "Sustainability Assessment of Water-Energy-Food-Environment Nexus for Irrigated Agriculture: Interdisciplinary Approaches for Central Asia (WEFCA)" on 21-25 August 2023 in Tashkent.
Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India, Germany, Russia participated in the summer school. The program was devoted to the study of the Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) NEXUS in the Aral Sea Basin to meet several sustainable development goals and support inclusive development in Central Asia and beyond.
Pulatov Y.E. - Head of Innovative Technologies and Scientific-Educational Research Department of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of NAST, foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of the Oxford Academic Union, Honored Scientist and Technician of RAE, Chairman of the Water Partnership of Tajikistan, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, took part in the summer school. He made a report on "Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) interrelationship in the Syrdarya river basin".
